Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our 2020 Embracing Independence Conference for our aging out foster youth was canceled. To ensure our youth’s safety, this year’s event has been redirected to a virtual event!

To inform foster teens who are navigating aging-out of the system about their rights and available services we are hosting a remote Embracing Independence Conference in April 2021.
This is critical – due to COVID-19 our teens are less informed and have less support than ever before:
• the 2020 conference was canceled
• our teens are more isolated without support from family or in-person schooling
We seek to incentivize full participation by the 60 eligible youth from Bergen County by providing competitions and prizes.
Please help us make this a fun and exciting event by purchasing prizes on our Amazon wish list – so that Bergen County foster teens can truly be ready when the time comes to embrace their independence.
Please share our Amazon wish list with your family and friends!

We Provide Needed Items and Gifts for the Children:

We provide the children we serve with the little extras – items they need – when no one else can cover the costs. Our advocates are often aware of what each child may need.

Here is a list of the types of items we have provided over the past few years. Many of these, like the birthday gifts, holiday gifts and a packet of toiletries for all youth aging out of the foster care system are annual projects. Other items are given out depending on the levels of personal, organizational or corporate donations received.

Birthday Gifts

School supplies

Duffel bags

Holiday toys

Gift Cards for Older Youth (Target, CVS, WaWa, Movie Tickets)
